Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Last night a family was driving home in the rain. They tried to pass a semi on the right as the semi turned left. The family truck clipped the semi and lost control.

Only the mother was wearing a seat belt. She survived. The father and three children 4, 8, and 11 perished.

Please pray for the souls of the departed and for the well-being of the mother and the extended family.

The biggest part of the tragedy is that both parents had previously been ticketed for not restraining the children. It should have been prevented.

What a senseless loss!
I am so sorry for this family, but I can't help but feel angry as well. This is a big pet-peeve of mine- people not restraining their children properly.

Praying for their souls and for healing for the mother.

How sad. I hope that other families will take this tragic lesson to heart.

We just moved from West Virginia, another state where seatbelt use is a huge problem. I can really relate to the senseless aspect of this tragic accident.

Praying,

It's the law here in NY State, so the kids get very used to it from the beginning of their life. There isn't a choice.

Senseless, definitely. But this poor mom is going to have to live with this the rest of her life. I will lift her in prayer.
