Please pray especially for her husband, Ben, currently at UVA hospital in bad shape. We really don't know what happened. They were driving and an accident occurred; Mary died there and Ben was airlifted to UVA. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary and Mary's 70th birthday this summer. I know Mary is at home with Jesus, and I'm so thankful she didn't suffer long, but I know Ben will need lots of prayers. I haven't been able to tell my husband about this yet; he's going to be devastated. Ben and Mary were the most wonderful examples of Catholic marriage, parenting and hospitality. I know it would comfort their children to know you're praying for them both.
Update 9/13:
Ben is doing OK, considering everything. He has broken ribs, leg injuries and lots of bruises. All four of his sons have arrived at his bedside. He knows that Mary is with Jesus; I don't know how he's handling this news. No one knows yet when he can leave the hospital, so any funeral plans are on hold for now.
Please, please pray for him. I just can't imagine losing a beloved spouse so tragically.
Your prayers have helped sustain me over the last day. It's been very hard to go on with daily tasks, but I know without doubt that Mary is in Heaven and praying for Ben and her sons. Thanks for all the prayers.
