My dad passed away Saturday, Sept. 16.
He was put into the hospital the Wednesday before with pneumonia and developed congestive heart failure. His death was very peaceful and beautiful. The family was at his bedside......36 of us!! As the priest was giving him last rites he kept asking for the score of the LSU game!! We all had our chance to tell him we loved him and as he told my mom he loved her, he passed away. He had a wonderful life and his family is so very proud of him. Thanks to all who prayed for him and our family.
[My dad, who is 86 years old, has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. The cancer is growing from lung to lung and constricting his esophagus. He can only drink small amounts of liquids orally. A feeding tube has been inserted to supplement his calories.
The news is very grim. He was placed on oxygen today because his saturation goes down to 66% during activity and only to 85% at rest. He does not complain and probably never will. My mom is not handling this at all well.....of course. The doctor is talking about doing radiation treatments, which seems very extreme to me.
It is very hard for us because we do not live in the same town,but, we are only 1 1/2 hours away and thankfully, because of homeschooling, we can be there often.
I know we have many prayer warriors here...I am not asking for a miracle, just a peaceful death for him and a peaceful heart for my mom.]

So sorry for this news, Marcie. Will pray for your dad and his entire family. What a blessing that you can still visit often.
May Our Lady of Sorrows intercede for a holy death if it comes to that.
