Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Everyone,

I have a minor problem that could use an extra prayer or two.

A child's tupperwear cup is stuck in the garbage disposal side of the sink. It is all the way down past the black rubber thing and I cannot get it out.

I have tried everything short of taking the disposal off or calling a plumber. With two mortgages, we cannot afford a plumber right now. I am afraid if I try to remove the disposal, the pipes will end up leaking. I don't think I have any scissors strong enough to cut through tupperwear.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and also any advice you can offer!

Blessings,
Krisann

Praying, Krisann. Have you tried wd-40 on the side of the cup? Hope the cup comes out soon!

Krisan, these type of challenges tend to push me over the edge . I'm praying for you...have you googled "how to" + "garbage dispoal" ? or the like?

Hope you find a solution soon.

Love,

Well, darn it, it is still stuck.

We have been skillfully working around it so far. I will have to see if Cris can find something from work to cut it with.

Thank you for your prayers. I will let you know when we finally get it out.

Blessings,
Krisann

Krisann, can you take the black rubber piece out to widen the hole a bit?

Can you slip a knife down the side between the side of the drain and the cup? Then slowly slide it up, putting some pressure on the side of the cup (if you manage to actually knick the cup--and gain a "foothold"--all the better). If you can get two knives in, one opposite the other, that will really help. The other thing you can do is heat a knife with a sharp tip and then spear the inside of the cup (the cup is much cheaper than the plumber) and pull it out that way.

Can you tell I've been there and done this before?

Unfortunately, no. It is permanently attached to the metal surround.

I tried that too, . The darn thing shifted and is now slightly sideways, stuck on the grinders in the bottom.

I have not tried the hot knife trick though. I think I will try that today.

Thanks for your prayers and tips!

Blessings,
Krisann

I've gotten things unstuck by sticking my fist in, expanding my hand inside the cup to put pressure on the inside edges and force it upright and up. Just make sure no one runs the disposal while you are trying.

A quick prayer here that it all works out.

Thank you all for your prayers!

I finally got it out tonight.      I ended up ripping part of the black rubber piece off, splitting the cup part way down the side, and using an old pair of scissors which broke while I was trying to get it out.

But at least it is out and the sink is usable!

One problem down.......

Now if only Cris could pass that kidney stone.

Blessings,
Krisann
