Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear Ladies,

I feel guilty asking for prayers with so many people like Regina and her family having such pressing need. But I decided to...because I believe you will pray and that I am being called to ask you to.

I am asking for prayers for my grandmother's soul as she is dying. She is not Catholic and is not surrounded by anyone who is religious or Catholic, family or friends. I know any true repentance is possible up until the very end. I sent the Green scapular but I do not know if it is near her. Please pray for my grandmother, Emma Louise, and that her soul be saved, and that my dad and his brothers' hearts would respond to grace.

I also have decided to go back to Connecticut (across the country) with my sister to say goodbye to her tomorrow. I can't belive I am going....or that my husband wants me to. This is the first time I have left my family like this, or a baby this young (14 mos). He is not weaned (I am bringing a pump). I do not know if he will even want to nurse again when I return?    I am already filled with separation anxiety but everyone agrees I should go. I hope, hope, hope this is truly God's Will and bears much fruit for all of my relationships.    Please pray for my children, especially Andrew.

Thank you so much ahead of time to whoever prays---I won't be checking the computer for a little while.

Praying Nina!

Can you take your 14 month old with you?

I also traveled across the country to be with my dying grandmother. She actually died while I was there, so I was able to be at the funeral. That was the work of the Holy Spirit, I know now, because I was so conflicted as to whether to visit her or wait until she passed and attend the funeral. I had a 4 month old at the time and just took her while the rest of the family stayed behind. Difficult, but worth it in the end. This 4 month old happenened to be named after this grandmother.

I was also able to be with my grandfather when he passed away last January. This was here in town, though. It was powerful experience.

Anyway, I can totally understand your wanting to be with your grandmother. Would it be too difficult for you to take the baby? He could fly for free still if money is an issue. I know it's a long flight! But, if you did end up staying longer than planned (like what happened to me) you would have the comfort of him with you and nursing could continue.

Whatever you decide, you'll be in my prayers and we'll pray especially for your grandmother's soul.

Bless you!

Nina, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Be assured of prayers coming your way, especially that your trip will be a comfort to you. I agree that it would be great if you could bring the baby with you, no doubt he would bring you comfort in many ways...
I will also be praying for your grandmother.

Nina,
Praying. I have terrible separation anxiety when I'm away from my children. I'll pray especially for your peace.

Dear Nina,

Four years ago I left my children and went to be with my dying grandmother with whom I was very close. I felt awkward and anxious about leaving my children who at the time were 4,3,2 and 1.

However, I had trouble nursing all of my babies and so I left Joseph, too. I left the children with a dear friend - the mother of 8. Her mother and my grandmother had been friends for at least 30 years.

While I felt all the pains and discomforts at the thought of leaving my children, I went through it anyway. I drove to Silicon Valley and spent the last 2 hours of my grandmother's life with her. Not only that, I was the one who called the priest. My grandmother died 5 minutes after receiving the Sacraments while we were praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy around her. It was so beautiful and I was so very, very privileged to have been there. I truly felt that my grandmother had been waiting for me.

I tell you the story in the event that God may choose to use you in such a way. You never, never know.

Prayers coming for you, your dear, precious sister and your dear, dear Grandma Emma.

Praying for these intentions, Nina. My grandfather is an atheist (baptized Catholic, but raised with no faith), and I can imagine your heartache and concern over your grandmother's salvation. Lord, have mercy!

Praying for your grandmother and for you and your family left behind. May your grandmother find peace in God before she passes away. And may the rest of you have peace during your separation too!
