My daughter at UD just sent me a Facebook message to tell me that her friend and neighbor, a young man married to one of her classmates, the father of a 1-year-old (today) daughter and an unborn baby, has died suddenly. Cause of death is unknown.

They all live in a condo development right across from UD. My daughter and her roommates babysit the baby all the time -- the students in the condos are very much like a family, with doors open to each other at all hours.

They had all been looking forward to celebrating the baby's birthday. And the baby's mom is about 15 weeks along with her second child.

Please pray for all of them: the repose of the young father's soul, the consolation of his little family, and comfort for all their extended community, who are very close-knit and now almost as devastated as his actual family must be.

I will pass along anything I know about a GoFundMe -- I had thought of that, but I don't think anyone knows much of anything yet. They're all so young . . . a bunch of 21-year-olds dealing with death (the young man was about 24, I think, but his wife and all her friends are college seniors). I think they're all just in shock right now. I will ask my daughter if anyone has thought to set up a fund.

And thank you all for your prayers. It just hurts to think about. I was there visiting in February, and during the time I was there, the baby kept appearing, in her sling, affixed to various friends who were taking care of her and passing her on to the next friend as they had to go to class. She seemed to be having the time of her little life, being loved on by all these college aunties. And they were having the time of their lives loving on her. It hurts to think that today is that little girl's birthday, and what she got for her birthday was no daddy. So I hope the college aunties are loving on her extra hard, and on her mother, too.
