Our Grace is flying to Missouri today to spend a week with the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. She and I visited the Carmelites in Canyon (Oakland area of California) in August. She is discerning between these two orders. When she allows me, I will share her story and the developments since I last posted about her.

Today, would you pray for safety in her travels. She is seventeen and a senior and this is her first time traveling alone. Also, for her discernment in general. I know there is a bit of a spiritual battle going on in knowing for sure God's will for her.

Praying! A suggestion from a mom whose daughter entered one order only to leave and join another....pay attention to the spirituality she was attracted to as a child. Our daughter entered a Dominican order at 17 and left at almost 19 to enter the Elysburg JMJ Carmelite cloister that was founded around the same time as the one in Canyon. As a child she was always attracted to all things Carmelite...something I should have thought of earlier, but clearly she was supposed to start with the Dominicans. She'll be making her vows next month. If you want to talk, pm me.

I will pray for her. My oldest spent a week with them in 2007. She actually visited about 4 orders before finally discerning that she was called to marriage. That order is wonderful. We had lunch with them when we dropped our daughter off.

Thank you so very much for your prayers and kind words! And, for the advice, Andrea. I will pm soon. She is home safely and had a wonderful visit. The place sounds heavenly! She will need to discern where she will go, but the overall process is at much more peaceful place than a few weeks ago. I have a hunch, but we shall see.
