Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Update 12/16 - My surgery was rescheduled for December 13 - I didn't realize it was the feast of St. Lucy until the day before. God is so funny...and so good! He has been with us every step of the way this year!

The surgery was great. It was much more involved than the Lasik procedure. I had an IV and everyone was in scrubs. Didn't expect that. But, whatever they gave me worked amazingly well and I don't really remember much. I have had only a few moments of intense pain and the eye drop regimen is a bit crazy for a month or so, but I have PERFECT, clear, 20/20 vision in my right eye! It is almost unbelievable how clear things are and how I must have been struggling for a few years. I can understand why people love it and are happy with it. Highly recommended if you need it! Otherwise, wear good sunglasses. Sun damage is mostly likely the reason I needed it.

Thank you again for your prayers! I am very happy and hope to have the other eye done sometime next year.

Thank you, St. Lucy.

I think the drama and stress of this year came to a big exclamation point in the ophthalmologist's office this morning when I learned I need cataract surgery! I am not super young, but it is rare for someone my age to need it. :( :( :(

I will have it done in my right eye in December and I predict I will need it in my left by the end of next year. I had Lasik surgery about 13 years ago which complicates things a bit, but there is a brand new machine (only 1 in my county) that may enable me to have near perfect vision in my eye. Otherwise, I wear corrective lenses, which is fine.

Of course, there is a very, very small chance I could lose all vision, but no one thinks that will happen.

Ugh. What else? That's what I asked Cash when he picked me up. The end of this year can not come quick enough! :)

Oh, I'm sorry. My aunt just had this in both eyes, and it has made such a difference. She was afraid at first, but she is so happy now!

I hear you about eye troubles! I haven't done corrective laser surgery, so I'm about blind as a bat nearsighted with astigmatism. And now that I'm "old" I have dry eyes and glasses are all I tolerate. It does make one feel a bit more dowdy.

But it will heal fast and you'll be back to seeing all those specks on the floor!

Oh, but, Erica- Rose!

This year has brought you that miracle, and with the surgery you will be able to see every smile more clearly. And near perfect vision- how awesome.

Yes, it's one more thing, and so crummy when you are so tired out already.
Never ask what next, right??

This is a surprise for you, but it's not a surprise to God, and He will carry you through! And we will all be praying

I second Melinda!!!!!

I will be praying for you and I'll admit publicly...I'm afraid to go to the eye doctor! I haven't been in years. I know I need some sort of new prescription. Well I knew that years ago, but lately I have to take off the glasses to read up close and it takes some seconds till they focus, sometimes I feel l like I have to cross them and then uncross them to "wake them up". Oh well! I should just go!

Okay maybe your brave front will help me get there!

Okay and more

Praying for you! Apparently it's all very easy, and everyone I know who's had it rejoices that they've had it. I hope all goes smoothly so that you can see clearly again.

Oh Erica - it certainly has been a rough year... but like Melinda said - great joys in it as well.

Thank goodness the technology for these surgeries is so good.

Praying for you. Let us know the date.

Thank you, everyone, for your sweet and encouraging words! I know it is a very common procedure and I've heard of others my age having it, so I will not worry.

Another (short) chapter in the book I could write.... :)

Thank you!

God is so good! Thanks for the update. I think that St. Lucia was working over time this year. Praying mightily for Jayden and my friend. I know St. Lucia will take care of it.
