My son had a near miss at the dentist yesterday. He was given toothpaste with MILK in it. I told this new dentist he had food allergies. I have NEVER heard of milk in toothpaste. He had just a few minutes of exposure in his mouth before he started having a very, very serious reaction. I immediately gave him epi, grabbed him and ran to the car to speed to the ER....he was saying his throat was closing off...and gave himself another epi shot...and benadryl.
He spent the night in PICU after needing an IV and doses of IV push steroids, and now is on enough meds to down a small horse. His asthma is flaring as well. This all happened as we were getting ready to move another son 3 hours away for college. So.....thanks be to God my son is home, okay, and my other son got moved into college.
Please pray for our peace of mind, for my son to continue to improve, without any rebound reactions in the next few days. This was one of the scariest reactions ever.

Oh my goodness! That is so scary! I'm so relieved everything worked the way it was supposed to and he's on the mend. Will pray for his improved breathing (and yours  ).

Oh, that is so awful and scary. That makes me furious about the toothpaste!
I'm glad he is stable, but I know what you mean about all the meds after the episode.
You did so wonderfully in that situation! God was sustaining you!
Praying for continued recovery.

Oh, 4 lads mom!! I just read your post. Terrifying. Is he okay now. What is the aftermath of an episode like that. It has to shake you. Or, do those with allergies get used to this kind of thing? Or both. Oh my. You and your son will be in my thoughts and prayers today!
