Asking for prayers for the big decision of what to do for kitchen cabinets. May seem trivial compared to many others' problems, but it's a big decision weighing on us right now. We have to make our decision within the next couple weeks, and there are so many ways we could go. Originally we were just going to go with the stock Value Choice cabinets at Menard's, but the more I've looked at them lately I wonder if they'll hold up to a large family? We are trying to be frugal, and yet not buy the cheapest you can get, which will break down and have to be replaced too soon, thus spending more money in the end anyway. We've looked at Schrock cabinets now, and are considering them, but again, not sure how their baseline cabs will hold up? I have a request for an estimate in at a local custom cabinet builder. Our heads are just whirling, and we just don't know what to do, as we're nearing the end of our house budget and want to be able to afford to finish the house before we move in, so we don't have to go through all the difficulties of trying to move everything around, and getting everything full of dust, etc.

If you have access to Ikea I'd suggest looking at their kitchen cabs, as they're very well made and reasonably-priced to boot. I have an 8-foot island (hah, it was an island when they made it, but now functioning as something else) from Ikea cabs that my hubby and kids made for me 8 years ago. Still works as well as the day they put it together, though we probably need to replace the under-$100 countertop soon.

Thank you all so much for your prayers! By a generous offer to help pay for them, so we could get good cabinets, from dh's parents we were able to upgrade a bit on what we chose and even add a few niceties like slide out shelves and little end shelves for doilies and statues by the window. We are both so blessed to have very generous parents. God is good!
We caught a great sale on the better cabinets, and even got free sink bases for both sinks. They let you get whatever sink base you want free, with any fancy shelves, etc., so that was a nice surprise! 
Now I just have the long wait until we have the kitchen finished! I so want to see them installed after all that planning!!!
