I posted prayer requests last fall when my youngest developed problems with one of her eyes crossing to the center. She ended up getting glasses and it took care of the problem overnight. Then, about 5 months later, the crossing started again, out of the blue. We tried stronger lenses in her glasses, but it did not help.
Now our pediatric opthamologist is recommmending surgery for her. That worries me, but I definitely want to make the best decision for dd. I have a 2nd opinion appointment with another doctor scheduled for this coming Thursday.
Would you all please pray that God gives us clear guidance in how to proceed? And that He brings healing to dd's eyes, whether through surgery or another option? Thanks so much.

Prayers for you and your dd. Is this a type of strabismus? My 2 year old ds has Brown's Syndrome (can't look up and in with his right eye) and I think his opthamologist is going to want to talk surgery at his next appointment.
Please keep us updated.

Yes, if I remember correctly, it's strabisus caused by far-sightedness. Many children are completely corrected through glasses alone. A fairly large percentage get better naturally as the children grow, and those children even outgrow the need for glasses. Something like ten percent get worse and need surgery. It seems that's dd's situation. But I'll know more after the appointment with the new doctor this week.
Thanks so much for all your prayers.

Thanks everyone, for your prayers. My 2nd opinion matched the first one, so dd will definitely be having eye surgery in the next few months.
I really liked the doctor we saw today. She answered my questions very clearly and completely and I have more peace about it all now. She also expressed great confidence in our other doctor, who will perform the surgery.
Now could you all pray that the surgery is successful? In some cases, there is a need for follow-up surgery later, and I'd really like to avoid that. Thanks so much.

We've been praying for your daughter, Irene, and will continue to pray for a successful surgery. Please let us know when it's scheduled.
And we think you're in good company! We've had 3 opinions for our #3 son, and it looks like surgery will be in his near future too. Still hoping to avoid it with #4.
