Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Five years ago, I experienced horrific back pain. My vertebra broke away from my spine (spondylolysis). I have had pain on and off since then, but this last Tuesday, I was putting on some pants, and the vertebra slipped forward more. The pain is very intense, but I have been using is to offer for intentions, conversions, etc.

The WORST part is how the pain works on my mind. Since I am not very mobile, I am frustrated at having my girls (they have been wonderful) doing everything for me, and all household chores, let alone helping me in the shower, etc. I HATE walking around slowly, and being immobile. The pain is constantly there, so I am definitely not as upbeat as I usually am!

I went to get some pain killers (so NOT like me!) and the dr is going to order a MRI. Hopefully, I will not need surgery. I have my own small practice, and I really need to keep it going until we retire in 7 years.

Thank you so much for all your prayers. I will be offering up my pain for all of your intentions.

Bridget

Bridet,
I have been experience chronic pain for 5 years. The first two years I could only walk a few steps, I couldn't clean, I couldn't cook, I couldn't do laundry, etc. All I could do was sit....and nurse my baby, which really hurt as well!!!

I am past that intense pain, but I sill have daily constant pain.

The mental side is the hardest. I often feel like I am loosing my mind. I have recently had two health providers say to me, "Wow, you look great for all the pain you say you are in!" I am currently trying to find a way to look like I am in the pain that I am!    It seems like no one really understands. I have had friends say, "Oh, I know what you mean, I hurt my knee and I couldn't run for a week!" Really? I can't take care of my family....and I haven't been able to for years.

Anyway....I am having a really bad day today because some days I trick myself into thinking that I can do things that I can't. My dh is gone so I tried to move a few things....now I am stuck in a chair and he won't be home for two more days.

Let me know if you want to talk.....I will keep you in my prayers and offer my pain for all of us Mothers that can't so what we are called to do!!!

Back pain is excruciating (spasms are worse than labor, imo, especially since you don't know when it will end), and not being able to take care of your family is frustrating and demoralizing.

I have not had a major incident with my back since I went on an elimination diet for nursing, so it seems a lot of my chronic inflammation was related to diet, so as difficult as this baby has been, I can be grateful for less pain! I just throw that out there because, while it doesn't fix the underlying problem, inflammation from food sensitivities can sure affect the level of pain.

Many prayers

Lindsay, it is funny you mention this, because since I had a bad reaction to penicillan 2 years ago, I am gluten sensitive and intolerant, allergic to oregano, dill, sulfites, MSG, BHT, and now ibuprofen. I made an appointment for the allergy dr, as I may be salicylate sensitive. Sigh...

Still haven't heard about the MRI. I am on my toes with this one. In the meantime, I went walking and was SOOO grateful to be able to walk now. God is so good.

Thanks for your prayers. I ran down the MRI (no one could find it!), and it shows I have a L5/S1 disc bulge. No surprise there, as my sacrum has tilted forward because my vertebra had broken away from the spine. So, I have an orthopedic appt next week, and we will see what happens. I am walking, but still in constant pain with weird shooting pains in my big toe.

As for the weird allergies and sensitivities, I see an allergist Thursday.

Thank you ladies for your support, kindness, and prayers. I will keep you posted. My spirits are better, and I feel like I am contributing to the house. God bless you all. Bridget
