Hi Friends,

I think out of the 35+ surgeries my kids have all had, I have never flat out canceled one, but I am going to this time. My 14 yo ds is scheduled for a tonsillectomy Monday. I am not convinced that he needs this. He is allergic to morphine and codeine....has asthma.....will need to spend a few days inpatient to control his pain....has severe food allergies that are pretty tricky when you introduce other people preparing the food I need to talk to his ENT tomorrow..and share my concerns. I am asking for prayers to the Holy Spirit that I am being led the right way with this one. I am not a rookie at surgeries--but my gut feelings and anxiety over this are in overdrive....I have never been angry with myself when I follow my gut.

I have never canceled a surgery, but I have canceled a few appointments in the last few years in which there was fall out. So, I know how difficult this is. However, I also know that I did the right thing (which was just validated a few weeks ago) and I am positive that you are too!

Whew...doc was fine with my concerns.....surgery cancelled for Monday...sleep study being scheduled first so we can see if tonsils are causing an issue.
