I just FINALLY talked to the doctor about his undescended testicle (well, it actually was descended at one time, but now they can't find it). She basically told me that he would need a CT scan 90 minutes from here and then surgery to remove it because it is atrophied and could be cancerous later. I am just so upset because at his 18 month appt, they acted like it was no big deal and just told us not to worry about it. I feel like they should have had us deal with it then while it was still possible to deal with it. She just told me that one testicle is enough so it isn't a big deal, but it is a big deal for me since there is no guarantee that the testicle is in good condition. Plus, now he has to be subjected to a CT scan with sedation and a surgery. Before, he could have been given some hormones and had a working testicle. My heart is broken over this and I feel responsible since I didn't pursue it further. I am just really sad for him and nervous about all that this entails. Please pray that Dominic gets through all of this OK and please pray that God grants me peace about it.

Praying for you both!
But- please don't beat yourself up. You trusted your doctor, which is something we all do. I am sure that if it is God's will for Dominic to have children, he will be able to do so.
I'm sorry that he will have to go through these extra medical procedures, though. He's lucky to have such a loving mama to be with him and take care of him through this.

I am so sorry to hear about your ds. One of my ds's also has only one functioning testicle, and I worry, too, that it will be "enough," even though, as a nurse, I know that it is. We are moms and we hate to see our children suffer in any way. Please don't beat yourself up, like the others said. You trusted his doctor.
I will pray for Dominic and you!

Prayers for you and your baby. My DS had an inginual hernia surgery at the same age and oh, it just pulls at your heartstrings! Also, my DS as well has only one functioning testicle and we were told with 2 that a typical man's chance of conception was like 95% and with one, it's like 90%. Not 100% sure about that statistics but it was such a slight margin of error that we are trusting if it's God's will, he will give us a load of grandchildren...or he may be a priest!  God Bless you all as you wait and go thru this. May God's peace cover you during this time.

Thanks for your prayers ladies. I am definitely past my anger, but I am still nervous and sad about the situation. As parents, you just want to give your kids every chance to have the life they want and I can't get over the feeling that I let him down. Our appointment is on August 1. I will update when I have more information. In the meantime, your prayers are greatly appreciated. I know that that God's will is perfect and that we all have our individual blessings and crosses. I don't know why it is so much easier to accept my own crosses than crosses intended for my children.
