Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

DS has a new issue. His face is swollen again. On Saturday, he was stung be a strange looking wasp/hornet. It turned red immediately, we put afterbite on it, and it went down. Saturday night, my MIL says his eyes seemed a little swollen, but he was tired. In the morning dh texted me and said that his forehead was swollen. I got out to the campsite around 2 and it was swollen, from his forehead, down his nose, into his eyes. I convinced him to go to dr. Only thing open at that point was teh ER. The nurse said it was indeed an allergy reaction. Sent us home with Reactine and Benedryl. Today it doesn't appear much better. There is no breathing issues, no tightness in throat. He'll be going for allergy testing. I told him he's allergic to holidays, he swells up at the beginning of them.

I am also requesting prayers for our beloved family pet, Gizmo. She was under the weather, and had a few accidents this past week, which is highly unusual. I brought her to vet, suspecting a bladder infection. We did a urine test, and it came back inconclusive because her urine was really dilute, which is a red flag for kidney issues. We had blood tests done, and her tests came back with bad news. She is having kidney issues, potentially kidney failure. However I don't have $500 for an ultrasound to confirm it. We are running one more test, that I can't really afford, but it would rule out an autoimmune issue and essentially confirm the kidney issue. I'm heartbroken, she's my little sweetie. I'm praying for the best outcome possible, which is the autoimmune, which is still an added expense, but would not significantly shorten her life. I know she's just a dog, but she's family.

No need to say "she's just a dog", I get it ... totally get it. My little girls refer to our 11 year old Weimaraner as their older brother.

Prayers for your boy, and your sweet Gizmo

Prayers! Have your son drink lots of water. It will help dilute the toxin.

update....We have no good news for our dog :( or the boy.

We did more blood tests on Gizmo, and it's inconclusive. All we know is the kidney's are stressed. Also found out she needs dental work(wish they'd have told me this to start, i'd have taken care of it, but after all the tests....). I have no idea where we'll get the money for that. It's $500 before extractions, and I know there is at least one, which is about $200. High way robbery.

As to ds... This Sunday, 8 days after being stung, he woke me up. He is covered in a rash from neck down. We give him some antihistamine. He gets home from work yesterday, his face is swollen again.

I called the dentist, they prescribed an antibiotic incase it is from the tooth they did a root canal on. He has a Dr. appt tonight to see if we need to consider having him carry an epipen. If it is a delayed and prolonged reaction from the wasp sting that's going on, it could mean next time a more serious reaction. I need to rule that out. Of course, he's 18 and being really angry and stubborn about this.

I'm starting to get worn down from these issues. Dh is not going to want to spend on my dog, so I have no idea what to do there, and ds is worrying me.

Continuing prayers. Our older dog (13, adopted him as a pup), passed away a week and a half ago. There were hard choices at the end. They are "just" animals, but they have a special place in the family too!

Praying that things regarding ds get figured out. It is difficult when there is a serious issue and the natural quest for independence and autonomy interferes with quick action. May you two be able to work together to find answers.
