I have two nieces, 3 1/2 and soon to be 2. There is a party for the two-year old this Saturday. As it stands my husband says we are not attending. This will cause heartbreak all around. The problem is the guests. Our brother and my sister's sister-in-law have alternative relationships that will be brought to the party. My husband and I believe we should not have that discussion forced upon our children at a child's birthday of all places. We have side stepped much in the past, but it no longer seems we are able to do that. We would appreciate prayers for our family to handle this with love and grace. The rest of the two families are generally protestant, but do not attend church regularly. We don't want to appear like "holy rollers" (which we are far from!), but ....

I have not been able to get across the distinction I see between the aunt and uncle coming- which is fine, and them bringing their s@m$ $@& partners- which is not fine at a children' s party . This morning has been bad. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Prayers Michele. We have a similar situation with dh's sister and her partner. We no longer attend any family functions where they are present. No one understands and they see us as hateful, but we firmly believe that it could be damaging to expose our children to that lifestyle at this age.
