Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My husband's Aunt. She is such a special woman. Truly. And this news has devastated the family.

It all began about two years ago ... a long story of struggle and confusion and one undiagnosable illness after another just compounded her (then) very fragile state. Burdened with the mounting medical bills and careless lifestyle, his Aunt and Uncle are losing their home, in the midst of her dying. It is tragic. My MIL has devoted the past year of her life to helping her sister. You may or may not remember that my MIL broke her neck in the spring of 2010 to which the doctors were astounded that she survived at all. My MIL firmly believes that God saved her from death so that she could devote herself to the medical, financial, and emotional care of her sister who has now been given 6 months or less to live. For the past year, my MIL has spent countless hours driving to and from doctor's appointments with her sister, clean her home, fed her (and her sister's husband) homecooked meals night after night, come home short from personal vacations to attend to the demanding needs of her ailing sister, and prayed countless prayers on her sister's behalf.

The doctors have said that she is now in total renal failure.

My husband's Aunt is Catholic. She is at peace with God, at peace with dying. But she is worried that her husband (who is so very fragile) will attempt to kill himself after she has passed. To my shock, the entire family thinks he will. Every effort is being made (right now) to encourage him to seeking counseling to help him cope with the impending loss of his beloved wife.

Will you join me in prayer for the two of them? For my husband's Aunt, for a beautiful, peaceful death into the arms of Jesus, and for his Uncle, that he may be given the grace to cope in the midst of losing his wife, losing his house, and what he see's as his very own life.

Holding all of your intentions close, as well.

**** Update 11-29 ****

She will likely not live beyond the next two to three days. ... so much pain and sadness surrounding her death. Please pray with me for her peace in Christ, the family who will desperately mourn her, my MIL who has devoted her entire being to her sister's care, and my husband who is coping with so, so much at this time, and this is just one more cross to endure.

Thank you, all

**** Final Update 12-2 ****

Beverly Gay passed away this morning.

Eternal rest grant unto thee O Lord.

Sending many prayers, Chris! Sometimes loved ones react differently than we expect when someone dies. At least that was the case with my grandmother's reaction to her son's death last year. Praying much for your husband's aunt, and that these next months will be an opportunity to grow in grace and strength for her and her husband and all of you. May the Holy Spirit guide your family's words and guide, protect, and strengthen you all. God can do much in 6 months!

Chris, we will remember your loved ones in our daily rosary every night, may God's grace work miracles of the body and mind for those you are so deeply concerned about.

Dear Chris, praying here for your aunt. May God send His Mother to aide her at the moment of death and to bring her safely into the presence of Jesus. May the Holy Spirit strengthen her husband and guide him gently through his grief. St. Joseph, intercede for Chris's aunt and obtain for her the grace of a peaceful, happy, and holy death.
