I'd like to ask for any prayers you can spare. I've been battling with depression my whole life due to a hormonal imbalance. Sometimes it's worse than others. The last few days I've experienced some really wild mood swings, and I have got to do something about it. It is affecting my motherhood in the worst of ways.
For me, the worst thing about depression is watching each precious day pass before me, feeling that I've wasted it and will never get it back, not experiencing the joy that I know is there to be found, and worst of all, robbing those around me of their own bit of joy, especially my kids. The next worst thing is having absolutely no idea how to get out of it.
I've prayed and I've prayed, but something has to happen soon. Today I conceded that I may have go to my dr and ask for some kind of meds to help. I'm hesitant because I don't have a lot of medical options here---my dr is a family practictioner and he won't really know how to deal with it. I've already seen the unit psychiatrist, who told me that obviously my problem is homeschooling. I really don't want to go on meds, because the dr will require me to wean my toddler who is still very attached to nursing just a few times a day and because I am still, crazy though it may be, hoping to conceive again.
I found an e-book online tonight about treating my medical condition through natural means, primarily diet and exercise, and hopefully this will help with the depression too. I want to give this a real try so that I can avoid the meds. Please pray that I can make the changes I need to and that it will make a difference.
And please, pray for my kids. They seem to be paying the biggest price for this.

I am so sorry, Diane. I will pray for you and the children. I hope the natural methods give you much needed relief.
I have known a handful or so of friends and family members who have really benefitted from meds, often only necessary for a time. Two women I know did have to wean toddlers in order to begin depression meds, but I think they both felt that it was the only option at that point. If you feel led to go that route in the future, I pray you can find a sensitive and caring doctor.

Diane, I will be praying for you. There are meds that are ok to use while nursing and pregnant, so please don't let that be a discouragement. Feel free to pm me if you'd like some add'l info.

I went through PPD (complete with anxiety attacks) and it was the darkest night of my soul. 
I sympathize and send you cyper . It's a cross, and a heavy one to bear.
