Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Could y'all send up a prayer for dh's parents? They're in their mid-to-late 70s and are exremely healthy. It's everyone around them that are sick:
  • grandson in Charlotte, NC with odd anti-immune deficiency problem that may also be siliac and who knows what (he's 5)
  • brother just turned 70 and has major heart problems (should have gone in to hospital on Friday, but said NO!)
  • granddaughter (35) with an emergency appendectomy down in Austin and then didn't do well with the anesthetic (sp?)
  • aging great uncle/great aunt (last of the generation) up in Long Island who Poppy feels he must take care of

Many of the folks on this list have no one to help them BUT Nanny and Poppy. N&P are the glue and have always been there. On top of all of this, Nanny just had cataract surgery and found out her eye doctor is dying of lymphoma and leukemia (and he's in his mid-40s).

It just really seems like it's pouring on them right now.

Please pray that they don't stress too much about all of these people. That all the illnesses are resolved quickly and that N&P don't get sick worrying about everyone else!

THANKS!

It's so hard to bear the crosses of the family! We'll keep them in our prayers, Mary!

Thanks for the prayers folks -- we're still waiting to hear on Gr'uncle Bill's visit to the cardiologist (he's the one who is 70). Poppy (76 himself) went with him so we should hear soon how he is.

I just wish they were all more in the Church Poppy and his brother Bill were raised Catholic and Nana was Episocopalian but converted when she and Poppy married. But then when my dh was 8 or so, they stopped going to Catholic and switched to Episocopalian. DH and his brother and sister had no real faith after that. Sister married a good presby but brother sort of dabbles iwth the E's. Dh came back to Catholicism through reading and thinking. Wish the parents would come back too!
