The rest of my gang got the chicken pox over the weekend. Hooray! We were hoping they would get it from Luke who had it two weeks ago and it was getting tough navigating the incubation period with regards to classes and such (who cared and didn't care about being exposed). I thought it was going to be a mild case for them as things started slowly, but my two middle girls are really suffering today and have many painful, inchy pox all over their body.
Poor things. :(
Donna Marie, I will have my kids pray for your kids tomorrow morning.

Praying...recommending oatmeal baths, which really helped my suffering brother way back when...

I've been thinking of your family ever since you posted about the chicken pox a week or so ago. Praying!

Aw thank you! It was really hard getting around the incubation period for us too. We have been at this for 2 months now! I have 2 boys that haven't had it. One of them is 15 and was vaccinated years ago..the other is my 12yods. The baby has it now and they have been eating her regularly So if they don't get it soon, they won't. We have been trying to schedule a First Holy Communion this month, too!
I will have my kids pray for your kids too, Erica!
Lots of love to your gang!

Donna, we're trying to make it to my nephew's (and godson's) First Holy Communion this Saturday! I was so happy they all come down with it over the weekend thinking it would go fast, but I'm not so sure now. I thought my older children would suffer the most, but they have a mild case compared to the 10 and 8 year old gals.
When should I worry? My 10-year-old, Isabella, is just covered with what I think are very large pox. She's miserable and definitely the worst of the bunch. She has quite a few on her face. I'm thinking this is just the miserable end of normal. :(
These two gals took oatmeal baths this morning, Nancy. :)

Unfortunately, it takes a little while. My baby came down with it Friday and she is going through what looks to be the near end of new spots. She looks quite crusty now. I have had the challenge of the kids getting it one or three at a time so it has taken us awhile. After I see no more spots I wait a little longer.
We had to post-pone Jp's First Holy Communion despite the "perfect day" chosen for it...JPII's beatification, St. Joseph's feast and Mercy Sunday. So, now we just leave things up to God and try not to be upset by it.
Oatmeal baths have saved our lives. The baby will NOT take benadryl but she doesn't seem to be suffering with it as much as the others as far as the itching goes. Benadryl is so helpful in taking the edge off at night.
Remember to tell her not to scratch..not even when the scabs are over the sores! Let them fall off naturally so there are less marks. Many of them will fade with time. Some of my kids had some big ones too...but they are better now...

Just seeing this. I'm glad they all got it at the same time for your sake of not having this drag on over more weeks, but I'm sorry to hear they are suffering. Those second cases within the family can be much more intense - but normal it sounds like to me.
Praying for everyone.
