Please pray for Kirk and his wife and family(11 or 12 kids). He had a really bad accident when cutting trees. He has a fractured skull and neck, the spinal cord was thankfully not severed from what we know. He has regained some movement in the lower extremeties, but not his arms and hands. His wife is pregnant, and possibly nursing as well, I think and she has faithfully been at his side since the accident. Please pray for Kirk's full recovery, strength for his wife, Bonni, and for all their children at home during this tiume, and for their eldest daughter, who is keeping the home fires burning.

His head was fractured, but not displaced; and (again, by the grace and protection of our Heavenly Father) there is no brain damage at all. The damage was primarily to the spinal cord in his neck, which was compressed from the blow. He has "central cord syndrom". The spinal cord has been bruised, and we can only wait for the swelling to go down to determine the extent of the damage. As for now, he has very limited movement in his limbs. He has begun a strenuous routine of physical therapy and is improving daily. He can now sit, unassisted, on the side of the therapy table for several minutes. He can lift his left knee almost 10" off the mat when laying on his back. And he can also make the Sign of the Cross (with his left hand) nearly as well as our 19 mo. old  , though he still can't move his hands or fingers at all.
They still haven't determined whether or not surgery will be necessary, but they presume he will be here at rehab for 4-6 weeks longer.
Kirk is in very good spirits, endearing himself to the staff and patients alike here. He is resigned to whatever God has planned for him and so very grateful for what we have!! Yet we are hopeful for a complete recovery eventually.
