Friends, I am expecting once again. It has been almost one month (to the day) since my miscarriage began in April. My husband and I are in shock and can scarcely believe that I am pregnant once again.
It has been a very difficult emotional time of healing for me. After the miscarriage a couple of weeks ago, my husband and I had some very trying conversations about discerning our families future and whether or not anymore children would be a part of it. I cried... A lot. He is convinced that our three little girls make our family complete. I am open to more children, and long for more children. Praying for my own contentment (rather than his conversion) ...
I think I am shocked more than anything. God is truly in control, and yes, He knows exactly what we need. And if this is His will for our family, then of course, I trust. There was a part of me that was even more nervous this time to tell my husband about me being pregnant - only because after my miscarriage we had some pretty emotional conversations about his feelings of not wanting any more children. ... and as difficult as it was, I submit to that because I love and respect him and would never want to intentionally bring a child into this world without him wanting it just as I. And we had many conversations about how my heart was open to life and always will be; though in my heart I felt I would never be pregnant again ...knowing how strongly he felt, I was ok with honoring that and actually (recently) became at peace with it.
So today, I am shocked, nervous, and happy all at the same time. ... and though it will take some time for him to digest the news, he woke smiling today .
I'm feeling emotionally guarded, and could use some prayers for our little one. The elation and despair of this past month has taken a toll on me ...

Congrats! Have your doctor or midwife run your progesterone levels--only 1 of many causes of miscarriages but a relatively easy one to deal with if so. PopePaulVI trained docs can clue you in on this if your doctor does not know about it:

I HIGHLY recommend this as well. You can have your doctor draw your blood, and then you ship it to PPVI (we do this at least once a month). They are very specific about wanting to use their lab because they have seen blood samples done at local labs and then their lab...and they are off by more than 20 points in some cases, which is definitely the difference between life and death, depending on your stage in pregnancy.
Also, given that you and your husband just lost a little one (my dh and I have lost 3 in the past), please do not make any big, life-changing decisions. (I understand what you are saying about submitting to your husband and always being open to life in your heart). From personal experience, men also grieve profoundly through miscarriage, though it is hardly perceptible at times to women, and this can greatly affect their ability to make the best decisions for their families.
Fwiw, St. Ignatius says to never make decisions in times of desolation. While your dh may not agree with this, he can probably agree with the fact that it has been an emotional roller coaster for you both and that a good amount of time is needed before decisions can be made--though, I guess God holds the trump card in this situation. That's just for future reference, though you probably know that. I truly do say this out of love, as it is something we have to constantly remind ourselves as well--and has truly saved us from making poor decisions that we were so utterly convinced of during a time of desolation.
I will continue to pray for you and your pregnancy. We also conceived a child immediately following a pregnancy, much to our surprise, too. Enjoy this exciting time.
