Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This seems like such a silly thing to ask prayers for, but my very social 7yo son has no friends. His brother, who is nine, has friends and the 7yo hangs out with them at times, but he knows they aren't really "his" friends if that makes sense.
I'm afraid he is actually getting depressed. He seems angry or sad a lot. Every time his brother is invited to a friend's house, he cries. The nine yo doesn't know what to do either. He hesitates to go anywhere because he doesn't want to make his brother sad. On the other hand, the 9yo needs friends too, and I don't want to deny him that.
UGH! I don't know what to do and I am asking for prayers for guidance. Yesterday the nine yo was invited to a birthday party and I don't know how to approach this. My 7yo is going to be broken hearted.
I'm wondering if it wouldn't be best to let the 7yo go to school .

Praying with empathy. We've had such an isolated year that the kids do not have many friends or social outlets.

These are the things that break a mother's heart. Praying that God will provide.

Praying with much empathy, Becky. Are there any outside activities he can do? Gymnastics, scouts, etc?

What a great boy you have there to be so sensitive to his younger brother's feelings.

Becky, I'm praying. My 2 older boys have gone through a similar situation. Here are a few things that have helped. We tell the children that friends are truly gifts from God. No one is entitled to a friend. Sometimes you have friends, sometimes you don't. When we don't, it is a heavy cross to carry. Pray to God for friends and trust that He'll bring them.

It's very hard to watch our children suffer over not having friends.

Love,

I completely understand this situation. Two of my daughters have gone through this and it is so hard to watch. With my girls, everything worked out just fine and they've begun developing friendships. I'm sure the same will happen with your son. I'll keep him in my prayers.
