Coming here to humbly ask for your sincerest prayers on my sister's behalf. It has been a decade of battling an auto-immune disease that has plagued her body; in and out of hospitals, medications, and tremendous pain. For the past couple of years she has been symptom-free; and now, this past week, her UC has flared up once again to the point where she is nearly bed-ridden. She's losing blood. Losing weight. And she needs a miracle. Begging your prayers. Her name is Mary. Thank you, friends.
**Update, March 17**
Friends, she isn't doing well. Not at all. I spoke with her briefly today ... things are bad. She was nearly ready to make the decision to go to the ER. Though she is not in tremendous pain (pain, yes, but manageable) her blood loss is absolutely frightening. She is weak. Pale. And losing weight rapidly.
I am on my knees begging you for prayer on her behalf.
**Update, March 23rd**
I thought you might like to know how she is doing.
In a word: better. That’s not a very enthusiastic “better”, but “better” is better than worse.
As of today her condition has improved to the point where she has begun to eat again. My mother, God bless her, has devoted every single day to my sister’s care, the care of her children, and maintaining her household. She has done all the cooking, cleaning, taking care of all the needs of her three small children, holding Mary’s had and not letting go, keeping Mary well by insisting that she eat something, anything to keep her from slipping. I haven’t seen my sister, but my Mom estimates that she’s lost 15+ pounds in just this past two weeks. My sister’s husband is so very grateful that our parents were able to be there for her … after all, he is the sole provider for their family and has to go to work.
She has a tremendous road of recovery ahead of her. She has begun the medications and is already suffering side-effects after just 24 hours of being on them. I am in disbelief almost. … my heart just aches for her.
I’m leaving on Saturday to go see her, it'll be a long 6 hour drive for me, my girls and my dog. I need to see her. I need to hug her. I need to tell her (in person) how much I love her. Emotionally? She is fragile. Mentally? She is broken. What her body has gone through these past two weeks is absolutely horrific. I’m prayerfully hopeful that my presence will bring her peaceful calm, that my children will be a joyful distraction for her children who are confused and upset. And I’m hoping that I can be just sarcastic enough to make my Mom laugh … which I’m usually good at doing (… everyone needs a mother who thinks you’re funny, and my Mom is good for my ego  ).
Say a prayer for safe travels, if you’re so inclined. I’ll be driving by myself with the girls and our dog.
… anyone have a good suggestion for some audio books for the car? I have a couple that the girls listen to all the time, and some new ones might be a nice change (some that are an easy-to-follow-along type books for the age range of maybe 4 to 7 or so).
