Dear Friends,
I beg you to pray for a terminally ill infant named Joseph whose breathing tube is scheduled to be removed by court order on Monday. His parents have begged doctors and the courts to simply allow them to place a tracheotemy in their baby so they can bring him home and allow him to die in their arms...the courts have refused. This makes no sense - it is crazy they can do that. Praying for this poor family and little Joseph.

This is so horrible! Those devastated parents! Praying for the judge to relent and have pity; praying too for the soul of the judge. What has this world come to?

Joseph is so little.
My guess is the hospital wants to save $.
This is so wrong and so sad.
(How ironic, that February the 21st is considered "Family Day" here in Canada!)

Wonderful Update on Baby Joseph!
Please read the e-mail I was sent below, and THANK YOU for your prayers!!!
Dear Friends:
Baby Joseph Maraachli was court ordered to be withdrawn from the ventilator at Victoria Hospital in London Ontario tomorrow - Monday, February 21 (Family Day) at 10 am. After hiring a new lawyer, Baby Joseph will not die tomorrow.
Baby Joseph has a terminal condition. His parents experienced a similar tragic situation with their first child (a daughter) who died more than 8 years ago. At that time the doctors gave their daughter a tracheotomy, that enabled the Maraachli family to bring their daughter home and care for her. She lived 6 more months and in the end she died naturally in the loving arms of her parents.
The Maraachli family asked Victoria hospital that the same be done for Joseph.
Victoria hospital refused and instead brought the family to the Consent and Capacity board to have the ventilator withdrawn. The Consent and Capacity board sided with the hospital. The family challenged that decision to the Ontario Superior Court who, on Thursday, sided with the Consent and Capacity board and decided that the ventilator would be withdrawn on Monday February 21 at 10 am.
The family, with the help of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, hired a competent lawyer who has been incredibly successful negotiating with the hospital.
This is what has been accomplished.
1. The ventilator will not be withdrawn from Baby Joseph on Monday.
2. Negotiations are underway with a hospital in Michigan to transfer Baby Joseph.
The legal costs are substantial.

Dear Friends please keep praying! This is just such a sad, sad story and has taken a turn for the worse as now the baby's parents aren't even allowed in without a security guard to see their own dying infant! This baby is from a Canadian border city and is waiting on a Michigan hospital to accept them. Many Canadians turn to the U.S. hospitals and doctors when hope runs out here (even though we have "free" healthcare, it is not always top notch) Read the update on baby Joseph today:
