Update:
My sonogram yesterday showed that the baby died sometime between the sonogram on Sunday and yesterday at 2:30. I had a D&C last night at the hospital, and am now recovering very well. I thank you all for your prayers and kind words. They carried me more than you realize.
I wanted to share a post I wrote to my local homeschool group this morning. Although you won't know the names, I think you will get the message that I am sending. It is a testimony to God in all His glory, even in the midst of suffering.
I wrote:
I awoke in the middle of the night to nurse Elina, and started to think about
yesterday, and the way things sometimes work out perfectly.
By now, I am sure most of you know that my ultrasound showed that our baby died
sometime Sunday or Monday before 2:30. I had a D&C last night, and
am now home recovering. I am feeling pretty good physically, considering the sad
circumstances.
I wanted to share something that came to me in the still of the night.
I was thinking of the irony of losing a baby on Valentine's Day, a day known for
love, chocolate, and fun. Why on this day?? Of all days, one that is on the
calendar, a date that isn't easily forgotten.
I started to think of the way things went, and how, instead of just losing
something precious, I received many precious things in return.
I received the love of good friends, especially Kim, who spent the entire day
and evening with me. She gave up her entire day, Connor's birthday, drove me to
the sonogram appointment, comforted me when I received
bad news, took me to the dr., and waited for me during the surgery. I can't even
list all of the ways she tended to me. During this time, Susan took care of my
older girls, while Carrie sent food, and brought a very touching card signed
by many of you. Countless others prayed in their homes, with their children.
*Every* *single* person I came into contact with yesterday was respectful and
thoughtful, from the sonographer who
went beyond her duties to call my dr herself, to the nurses who cared for me
before and after the surgery. I have heard enough from others who found
themselves in similar circumstances to know that this is not always the case.
Of course, I can't forget the love of my family. Caitlin who watched the kids
while I went to the appointment, after spending 5 1/2 hours in the ER with me on
Sunday. KC, who hugged me last night and told me how
sorry he was, and then hugged me even longer. He watched Elina until we got
home. And, of course, the most precious love from Kenny, who was sad and in shock
himself, and had no idea what was going on until he got home from work.
He rushed down to the hospital and was there to see me before I went in. He is
home today, and taking care of everything. We are both in awe of the blessings
we *do* have, the five healthy children God has blessed us with. My kids are at
Summit, being looked after by the other moms there.
All of this came to me, and I got my answer.
Last week, I finished a novena to Blessed Mother Theresa. This novena is all
about loving God, and trusting God blindly. I asked for three things. A healthy,
full-term baby. No complications, including any bleeding. For my anxiety to be
cured.
I received none of these. God's answer was not yes, it was not wait, it was no.
No. Not the answer I was looking for.
What I received was much greater, more profound, and entirely compatible with
Valentine's Day. He gave me love. Love I will remember every Valentine's Day for
the rest of my life.
Blessed Mother Theresa "Jesus loves you tenderly, you are precious to Him. Turn
to Jesus with great trust and allow yourself to be loved by Him. The past
belongs to HIs mercy, the future to His providence, and the present to His
love."
Thank you to all of you, you are all precious to me and my family.
In Christ's love,
Leocea
Original post:
I am having a sonogram today, to determine if the baby is viable or not.
Yesterday, we saw a heartbeat, but my bloodwork isn't consistent with that. The sonogram machine was old, and we couldn't measure the size of the baby. The
bloodwork indicates a miscarriage may be happening. So, I am going to have a
sonogram today at 2:30. Kim is driving me. Thank God for good friends.
Please pray that we see a baby that is the appropriate size, with a strong
heartbeat.
Please also pray that I am able to stay calm during all of this. I am having a
really hard time.
In Christ,
Leocea
