Hi Everyone,--Update
I have been sort of quiet here....just so, so busy and tired. I mentioned a while back that Pete was having his palate expanded, which normally isn’t a big deal, except Pete has had two repairs on his cleft palate. Now, as we pull it to make it wider.....it looks like it is going to open back up.  This greatly concerns my husband and me. This little guy has been through 13 surgeries...and dealing with quite a bit of post traumatic stress from that....and now his palate might open back up...needing a difficult, painful repair. We have to widen his palate. His permanent teeth are getting lost up in his gum, there is no room for them to come down..he has two rows of teeth on the bottom from the crowding....this is necessary.
Also...Lily has a hiatal hernia, we discovered back in Dec. on an x-ray. Now, we are wondering if she might be having reflux. She isn’t tolerating her feeds per g-tube well...has pain, and complaining of her “throat hurting” after feeds as well.....humm...waiting for docs to call me now to see what to do.
And...did I mention it is awfully dark around here in February???  Can’t wait for Spring!!!!!

UPDATE:
Lily had her upper GI today.....you didn’t have to be a radiologist to see the big hiatal hernia present....part of her stomach is protruding up through a weakness in her diaphragm. Perhaps this is why she says almost every feeding...”Mommy, my tummy hurts!!” Poor girl. Looks like surgery is in our future. Not sure how that will all work, because she still has an open trach stoma that they weren’t going to close until May....but not sure if this can wait until then. So, they might have to close the stoma, and then a few weeks later, repair the hernia. This is just my sort of educated guess.
I’ll keep you updated.

Dear brave mom, you are frequently in my prayers. May our dear Jesus bring peace and healing to your children. I will pray that Lily and Peter will be able to avoid surgery and that a less tramatic and invasive solution will be found for them. And prayers for you and your dh, too, in this ongoing trial.

Ohhh I am praying for you! I know how difficult it is for mammas to deal with the health issues of their children. Having to be strong for the littles but feeling like falling apart in reality. Prayers for your strength and prayers for your son and daughter!
BTW I have a daughter on a feeding tube as well (she has an NG tube right now) and the ups and downs with feeding tubes are enough to make one nuts without any other issues going on.
