I know, don't we all. I feel sheepish asking this on a board of sleep-deprived mothers, but I'm getting desperate. I have 7 kids, the youngest being 5 months-old. This being my 7th child, one would think that I know the drill and could handle the new baby thing. This baby has thrown me for a loop...colic in the very beginning and the child simply will not sleep. Tummy issues seem a little better, but he's just a very needy little guy. I must say, I've been quite spoiled with my other children who would actually sleep if I put them down in a bassinet, bed or crib. This one...not so much. Even sleeping with us is not working now. I'm not getting more than 2 hours in a row at night and I'm not really able to nap during the day and am going crazy! My family can only run on survival mode for so long before everything just has gaping holes...academics, laundry, my children's memory of a sane mother.
Forgive me for whining. I know there are many who have it much worse! I do know, however, that a few prayers thrown this way can move mountains and bring some much needed relief so I humbly ask for your help.
Please pray for consistent sleep for baby and me. We both need it. Thanks Ladies!
Praying for your intentions as well!
DeAnn

Praying for you DeAnn, that consistent sleep is not too far away for you and bubs. I'm sure you are doing the best you can under the difficult circumstances. Hang in there!

I so know your pain! And it is miserable. A severely sleep deprived mom makes life at home so hard. Even the every day things are mountains. I know. At times I thought I was going to literally lose my mind. I will be praying for your sleep and for your little one. Have you figured out what was causing the tummy problems? Our third had a lot of problems which got better when I completely eliminated all dairy products. Still, he struggled to sleep and had a weak stomach for the first couple of years and required lots more of me than the others. He is still my one that is affected by stomach problems more than others.
May the Holy Spirit guide you to what helps your baby and give you REST! (Do you have anyone who could watch the kids for a little while every few days so that you can nap?)

Thanks so much ladies. He finally slept a little better last night--only woke up twice.
I actually did have him tested and he does not have any food allergies. I think I still may give up dairy for a few weeks just to see if there is a drastic improvement.
He does have 4 teeth at 5 months so I think that some of the most difficult times recently have been teething issues.
I greatly appreciate your prayers and am looking forward to better sleep!
Praying for all of your intentions!
DeAnn

Offering my prayers as well, DeAnn! My wee littlest is going through some major transitional sleep issues right now and for several days in a row I've been up until 3 am, then my other daughter rises at 5 am . It can be SO difficult to navigate our days when we are sleep deprived. ... praying for you!

I'm so glad he slept better last night! Praying that trend will continue. Teething is terrible. :-(
FWIW, my son wasn't technically allergic to dairy either. The doctor said that at a young age the protein in dairy can pass through the lining of the stomach without being completely digested (something about the thickness of the wall). As we grow that lining thickens and this doesn't happen anymore. Some kids are more sensitive than others to that protein and it causes pain/colic. I think it takes 3 weeks (?) of eliminating something to know for sure? Anyway, praying for answers for you.
