She is actually named for the new beata, Blessed Chiara Luce Badano. Chiara was a young woman, born in 1971, who contracte bone cancer when she was 17. She died at the age of 19. Her birthday was on October 29th, which was Kara's due date...however, Kara arrived a week early. We didn't want to name her Chiara, because we figured most people would mispronounce it...and Kiara looked a bit too trendy for us!
So, now she will have to go through life saying it's Kara...with a "K"!

That is beautiful, Lara. I love Blessed Chiara's story- how she offered up all her suffering for Jesus. I have read she amazed her doctors with her faith.
May she bless and guard your new little girl her whole life!
