Well, my oldest is off to boot camp this week...so emotionally draining! Prayers would be appreciated, for my son: that he would be safe and strong. For me: that I don't have a complete melt down at the final parting. For my dh: because I think he's holding back a lot of emotion. For my younger kiddos, who are going to miss big brother sooooooooo much!

UPDATE! Michael graduated from boot camp last Friday, Jan 7...was even meritoriously promoted to Private First Class for being a scribe and a gear guard--sooooo proud of him! He's home with us for the next week, then off on the second part of his adventure: Military Combat Training and Military Operational School (I think that's what it's called). If you'd keep praying for his continued health and safety, especially with traveling in winter weather, I would be most grateful. And this separation will be even longer....4 months! Thanks for your encouragement and blessings.

Praying Lori! We just went through this earlier this year. Ds has now graduated from his School of Infantry and is waiting for orders. That is pretty scary to us as well.

The time does fly by and it seems like the guys thrive on the challenge. At least it isn't 110 degrees like when my son was at Parris Island!

Thanks to all who have been praying, and to those who posted encouragement to me here. We received a call from him Tuesday night to let us know he had arrived, which was great. I've heard that some parents don't get that phone call because the recruit often can't remember which phone number to dial under the stress of arriving and making the call quickly. Or they forget to dial a "1" before the area code, and it doesn't go through. Or even some being too emotional to call. So I'm glad we heard from him!!

Today was his first opportunity to attend Mass there on base, so hopefully that went well. Have no idea of numbers of Catholics in his midst. Keep praying, if you would, not only for his safety, but for him to stay close to God and to treasure his faith while he's gone.
