I just wanted to pop in and thank you for the prayers for my son Charlie while he was at boot camp these last 13 weeks. He graduated Friday and was even promoted upon graduation.
Next stop, Camp Pendleton in CA. After that, it is off to his duty station and likely to Afghanistan in the near future. Please pray for his continued safety.
Thanks!

Congratulations to Charlie! I'm so glad he's starting off so well. We'll be praying for him as he continues his training and prepares for deployment.

Oh Molly, I'm so excited! What a journey it has been!!! Camp Pendleton is AWESOME! There is such a strong community there. The base is huge, city-like, meeting every need. And...the beach is gorgeous . May Charlie continue to be blessed and be sure to thank him for me for his service . My prayers continue.
Love,

Molly--congratulations to Charlie and to all of you!
How was graduation? My son will be doing bootcamp IN Pendleton, starting Oct/Nov this year. We just visited Camp Pendleton on our vacation last week, and it is massive! But, very welcoming to families, as we learned.
Would love to hear how graduation went, and what to expect!
Will keep you and your son in our prayers.

Lori, just be very thankful that you won't be attending graduation at Parris Island in July! The heat index was around 110 degrees.
The day before graduation is Family Day. I thought it was going to be an organized day highlighting what the recruits had been through. Instead it was a 15 minute briefing and then liberty for five hours. I was a little disappointed. But, then again, with the heat, we were better off sitting under a tree having a picnic then touring the base and watching demonstrations.
Graduation was pretty quick, maybe an hour at most. Unfortunately for me, I was too busy wrestling a 2 year old and a 4 year old, while caring for a 6 year old who was ill from the heat, to be able to really focus on what was being said.
The most emotional part was on family day when they marched in for the first time. That is when I cried.
Good luck to your future Marine!

Thanks, Angie! My dh is actually a little worried that there are too many enticements to young Marines out there that could get him in trouble. A slide show they were showing before the family day briefing showed the beach. It looked like something out of Top Gun! LOL! I am hoping they keep a tight reign on them during basic school. We were hoping he would be closer at Camp Legeune where we have friends.

Congrats! I will continue to pray for your son's safety! As far as geting into trouble in Camp Pendelton, it can happen but they do keep plenty of tight restrictions for the younger Marines. I hope that makes you feel better! You might want to tell him about the Single Marine Program. They get together and volunteer in the community and do various activites together. It is to help the younger guys not get bored. Semper Fi, from our Marine family to yours!
