As many of you know, my husband is retiring and we are moving. The time's now down to the wire. Our hold baggage was shipped today. Thursday is the retirement luncheon, Friday the retirement ceremony (at which I am singing two countries' national anthems ~ yikes!), the following Monday through Wednesday the movers come to take all the other stuff (including my connection to all of you!). Now, so suddenly, this move is becoming real to me. I've got enough nervous tension to beat the band. I feel like I ought to be doing something constantly and can't stop thinking of what I should be doing or should have done even when I'm supposed to be asleep. I'm trying to keep everything calm for my kids' sakes, but the nerves are about to bubble over.
How do I explain this to those of you who lived in the same house for several years and intend to do so for several more (maybe even until all the kids grow out of it)? I'm excited and overwhelmed about going back to the states at the same time. As soon as is practical, we have to seek for a suitable house in a suitable area. My husband, hopefully, will fall into a job. He's always seemed to be able to trip into good jobs in the military, what would be different now that he'll be out? Everything is still so iffy. I don't do well with no solidly laid plans.
And though I try, not very successfully, not to be attached to *stuff,* the things that my kids chose to ship on ahead are some of their favorites. If those things get lost or dropped in the ocean or stolen ... I would probably be more devastated than they will, because it was I who convinced them to send that stuff on ahead so that they could use it right away when we get to Utah. Is not ANYONE on these boards from northern Utah?
Please remember us in your prayers for the next 10 days or so. After everything gets moved, we'll still be here for another two weeks. But life will seem a lot simpler. During that time, you can take time off from praying for us until our actual departure date. That's March 30. At that point you can start praying for safe travel.

Oh Tina I can understand some of what your feeling.
After 20 years, last fall DH retired from the army.
The excitement of the move mixed with not knowing what's to come. That's an interesting feeling. Thanks be to God, civilian life has been very good to us.
I pray your move and travels go smoothly, and work will be found quickly.

I knew I'd seen someone else from Salt Lake City. I did a search and it's Jerin.....here in the introduce yourself thread.....oh happy day! I'm adding you to the prayer list here for safe travel and a peaceful move. Give it all over to St. Joseph now...you're moving during his month

Our family went out of town on the 5th so I'm just reading this, Tina. We're still active duty (PHS) and have moved more times than I care to count. I'm SO with you! Hang in there, friend. We're praying and will look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Love,
