We are three weeks out from surgery tomorrow....and it is getting a little brutal around here. Poor Lily, the sores I mentioned in her mouth.....they are because she has some kind of nerve damage to her lower lip, and she is biting her lip, to the point that it is constantly swollen and just looks so, so painful. You know how the inside of your lip looks like when you bite it....once?? Take that times a hundred....and that is what Lily’s lower inside of her lip looks like The dentist looked at it today, and knew right away it was numb, because she was asleep in her stroller, and he probed around and she didn’t flinch.

We don’t know if this is permanent. The dentist said often it heals within two weeks post op.....we are past that...it can take up to two years to heal....or it might be permanent. It is so hard to tell at this point, we are still actively moving the pins to lengthen her jaw, there is still a lot of swelling, so it very well can be temporary.

I am so sad for my girl, her lip just looks awful. I pray this is temporary. Please pray as well that cleaning around the metal pin sites that go into her jaw is less stressful for both of us She cries and cries.....it is so upsetting to have to do to her, but I have to keep it clean.
