Hi, I haven't been posting much, but wanted to pop in with a request for baby. There's no problem with the baby right now and there probably won't be. The doctor at my ultrasound yesterday did note that the cord is inserted a little closer to the edge of the placenta than is ideal and (if I understood the explanation correctly) that if this doesn't resolve by further placental growth in that direction, he may be at greater risk of growth problems (not at all a certainty even if the cord situation stays as is.) So please pray for us regarding this. And yes, we did find out he's a boy I am 19 weeks 6 days today by my calculations, and go back early in June to check up on the cord/placenta and on his growth. He was growing just fine as of yesterday.

I think they call that a “marginal insertion of the cord”......and my oldest had it pretty significantly.....and was over 8# and three weeks early!
I’ll be praying for that cord to behave!!

Yes, that is the phrase the doctor used, marginal cord insertion. She said that is when it is less than 2.0 cm from the edge and ours is 1.8 cm, so although I don't know much about placentas and cords, I'm guessing it's less likely to be a problem than if it were more than a millimeter difference. Thanks for all the prayers!

Thanks ladies. We had the followup ultrasound Wednesday at 24 weeks 5 days. The measurement in question was normal this time, and the baby also appeared to be growing perfectly normally. So we probably won't even have to go for more ultrasounds, let alone be concerned that his growth is likely to slow.
