Hello everyone -
My parents are in need of some prayer! My mother has her breast cancer surgery tomorrow. Unfortunately my dad threw his back out and cannot drive her there and as of now is in so much pain isn't sure he can even be of any assistance to her at the hospital. He was prescribed a muscle relaxant but he is a big man and it so far isn't doing much.
I am the only family around so it falls to me to help them out. They are also new in the area so don't have friends/neighbors that could help. The dilemna is that my dh is out of town, so I'm left with the four girls including a nursing babe. I don't know if children are even allowed where I'd have to go - especially four "lively" ones. Plus the baby and I have colds and are contagious. I can find someone to watch the older two for a few hours but that doesn't really solve the bulk of the problem.
I don't want to just drop my poor mom at the door but right now I don't know how else to do this.
We all think (including my dad) that my fathers back pain is psychosematic (sp?) for the most part. Every time there is a family crisis (esp. with my mom) this happens. I'm not blaming him - only explaining for prayer purposes.
Please pray for my mom, dad, and wisdom for me to know how best to acccomplish tomorrow's details.
Thanks!!

Oh, Amy! Been there before and wishing I could do much more for you than pray.
But pray, I will....
A little tip (for whatever it's worth) keep a spiritual book or other book of choice in your purse or the diaper bag. If things become a little hairy and stressful, just give the bag a pat and remind yourself that at some point, even if not until nighttime, you'll get to relax with that "circle of quiet".

Amy, I will keep you in my prayers today. It may be a very hectic day for you, but be glad that you are able to be of help to your parents in this great time of need! How wonderful that you can be there for them. I am sure your mom will understand if you have to drop her off and then leave...
And yes, stress can surely cause a lot of problems. I hope your dad feels better soon.

Thank you so much everyone - once again your prayers moved God's heart!
My dad recovered just barely enough to take my mom to the hospital and even stay with her. She called me a few hours ago and sounded *wonderful* so I'm guessing the procedure was not too hard on her! She'll know more about the results (i.e. how much cancer was found) next week.
Thanks again for remembering us!
