Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for my 4 yo ds, Jacob. (He's one of the twins.) He has croup and an incredibly painful sore throat which is not due to strep or to mono -- we spent the afternoon waiting and waiting and waiting at the doctor's office, and finally at home, he is having trouble breathing (which he didn't have in the doctor's office) and he is just SO, SO sick. He did not need to spend so much time out today!!

We are home with a prescription for steroids to reduce the swelling of his throat. Please pray they work fast, because he is so uncomfortable... and my dh is still on his way home from MA... if I have to go to the ER, I'll have to take all the kids with me...

Oh my! I hope dh comes home safely and quickly! I rely heavily on my dh when we have major sicknesses in our home.

*Update* -- We were able to break Jacob's spasm last night by spending a really long time in the bathroom with the shower going. My dh burst in the door, ready to turn right around and head to the ER, but after that, Jake's breathing eased up a bit and after he got both doses of his steroid, he did pretty well last night. This morning he can actually talk! (He had completely lost his voice because of all the swelling... I guess that's how croup works.) So he's not out of the woods yet -- he's still coughing and his throat still hurts him a lot and he's only got a 3 day course of steroids, which I hope does the trick -- but at least he can breathe! So your prayers were very much appreciated.

If you could add his twin brother and 6 yo older brother to your prayers... I thought his twin was turning the corner but now his cough has gotten worse and he's on his 6th day of fever, and my 6 yo is just at the beginning of all this stuff and looking quite miserable today. I really hope everyone they are all better by Christmas!

Croup is no fun at all. UGH, BTDT. I am praying for little Jacob right now and hope he's all back to normal soon. And for your other little ones too!

Hang in there! Prayers coming!

OH MY, Angela!!!! That is so, so tough!! I have so been there, multiple croupers at one time is so exhausting and scary. I’ll be praying mightily and offering up Lily’s grumpy day with arm restraints for her buddies in NY. Hang in there, and please update!!

*Update #2* -- Thank you for all your prayers!

The twins are both feeling much better now -- better enough to start running around and getting into trouble. The steroids really helped Jake improve quickly. My 6 yo is still dealing with the sore throat, but isn't nearly as sick as his younger brothers were.

Now to try and do a quick clean-up and bake before my parents get here on Thursday!
