We are finally going to an allergist this afternoon with dd who is almost 7. I have noticed her reacting to things (like peanuts ) since I was nursing her as an infant. We have always just been careful with those things we know she reacts too and never felt the need to do more. Now we are losing our awesome insurance and feel we should get his done. Also, I am struggling controlling her eczema.
Please pray that we can get some answers, relief, and she cooperates and I can express myself well.
Thank you,
Anne

Prayers for you Anne and your dd and for wisdom for the allergist. I know what you are dealing with for sure. Try and take some notes before you go so that you don't forget anything.

I so get the whole food allergy....severe allergies in this family. Please make sure you leave with a script for an EPI PEN!!!! If your child is allergic to peanuts, but has had lower grade reactions.....at the drop of the hat, that can be a life threatening reaction with no warning...with one accidental bite. I am not trying to scare you, but the allergist should definitely be singing the same tune.....we carry epi and benadryl every where we go....nothing to mess with.
Here is a great website....
Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network
Many prayers of empathy.....take a notebook.....and get all of the info you can.......AND...update us!!!

Thank you all for your prayers. We are off in an hour.
4Lads, thank you also for your note and reminder. We have no Epipen(and I sometimes worry) but I do carry Benedryl. Her reaction has never been severe--or actually diagnosed. When we left VA, our really cool doc told me, "be careful with the peanut allergy." He totally trusted my mom judgement. Then we changed doctors due to our move and our new doctor wanted me to give her peanuts to see what would happen! And we live 30 minutes from the nearest ER. Arghhh!!
I will put that on my notes/questions list.
This insurance issue may be a blessing in disguise.
I'll let you all know how things went tomorrow.
Thank you so much for keeping this little prayer request in your thoughts.
Anne

Thank you all!!
It went very well. We have some answers and ideas and my mom instinct was right. I was so glad because sometimes people think you are crazy to say, when she was an infant and I nursed her after eating peanut butter or eggs she would get hives/rashes on her face.
Peanuts and eggs, among a few other things shellfish-would have never thought of it) were 4's-extremely high reaction.
I was heard, taught, given the Epi-pen prescription, a cream for her eczema ( 1 lb at a time!! :), and suggestions to try to decrease exposure to environmental things.
DD was so cooperative and the tests only hurt a little, per her report. Some new test with velcro type pokes. She was extremely itchy after and that Benadryl I keep in my purse came in handy for the drive home.
Thank you again. Now I pray we never have to use that Epipen as he said as they grow the reactions can get bad.
Yikes.
Anne

I'm so glad all went well and that you have some answers. Affirmation of a mommy's instincts is so nice! Praying that the eczema improves and the allergies can be controlled. I have some friends whose children had severe food allergies but they've seen improvement over time.
