Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have a very difficult situation with our ds. Some of you may know about him, and I have certainly asked for prayers for him in the past. He is very troubled and conflicted right now. He is not living with us at this time, but tomorrow, we have to go to court as he has made some poor decisions and must answer for them.

He has become very hostile to our faith and family values. There has been nothing that my husband and I can do about this as he refuses to be a part of our family. We are too "religious" for him and he is certainly choosing friends who encourage this attitude. He has said that he does not want to come home for Christmas. And there is nothing that we can do to change this either.

I keep praying, offering prayers to St. Therese and including him in our daily rosary. Now I have admitted what a terrible mother I am to all of you as I am so saddened by this situation. I need your prayers tomorrow to stay collected during this period. Please pray for our son, for my dh and me, and for our family. I can ask for nothing else as I know that prayer is all I really have left, but I also know that it will make a difference. There are no other avenues. Thank you so much.

Update 12/12
I just read all of your prayers and I am so touched by your words. You are true and faithful prayer warriors and that is truly what I need now.

We spent the entire day in court. My ds looked very nice and he spoke well as he defended himself against the accusations that were brought against him. The magistrates aquitted him. But we must return on January 8th for sentencing on another offense of which he is guilty.

He truly seems to have changed. He seems more mature. But of course, there is no influence from his family in his decision-making process. I continue to pray for him and for our family. And I try desperately to remember to leave it all in God's hands.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I am in deep appreciation and will remember all of you tomorrow in mass on Gaudette Sunday. Rejoice in the Lord!

You are NOT a terrible mother! I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this...and yet I am glad you are there to support your son as he confronts consequences.

You have my prayers, as always, especially tomorrow.

Prayer a-plenty Carole. I have a good idea how you feel, as we are living kinda the same situation with our oldest (almost 19) and her choices.

The only difference is the court thing. My heart aches for you and how this must be pulling at your heart.

May you feel our prayers surrounding you when you need the support we offer you.

God bless!

Carole . Unfortunately, your ds has lots of problems, but you are NOT the cause of them. Praying for calm and a good resolution to these most pressing things right now, and for healing for all of you. Your love and generous heart toward your ds are so clear in all your concerns for him.

Peace,
Nancy

Carole, I've been in a somewhat similar situation with my oldest for the last few years. You are not a bad mother! They have made their own decisions. Praying for you and for him!

Carole, I don't believe that you are a terrible mother! Prayer is all you have left and it is enough! It is our most powerful weapon. We allow God to act most freely in our lives when we stop fighting Him, abandon ourselves to His Will, and PRAY. He will work in your son's life. Trust in Him and take a day at a time. I have seen first hand how children like your son have completely turned around through the intercession of their mothers. It took time and those dear moms endured such pain, as I know you have. But continue to trust in Him. He loves your son more than you do. He is at work.

Carole,
I will be praying for your ds. You are the best mother in the world for him--God chose you! Keep praying and know that our family is joining you in praying for your precious son and his return to your family. Big hugs!

Oh Carole! You have my prayers! You are not a bad mother.

I heard something in a homeschool talk once that was a great comfort to me. The talk was about children going astray and the speaker reminded us that Adam and Eve had everything they could need or desire, and a perfect parent! Yet, they chose sin. You are not a perfect mom, but none of us are. At some point, these kids make their own decisions and we may never know what we could have done differently, if anything.

Try to give it to God. Trust and pray.
