Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do I need to say more? He's nineteen and his transition to adulthood isn't going quite as we expected. He's dependent on us and seems to resent us for that. Suffice it to say that I'm very frustrated.

I'll pray for you. We are going through the same thing here.

Sorry for the hijack- My soon to be 19 year old has decided tonight to move out. It may turn out to be the best thing for all of us- but right now- its my oldest baby leaving the nest....
Logically, this will probably make him a better man. I just didn't think it would be so soon.

Praying for all of our young adults. May their guardian angels protect them and may their increased independence lead them to an increased dependence on God .

Love,

Both boys and their families are in our prayers. My 18 y.o. dd has Reactive Attachment Disorder (adopted from China at age 7) and told her Theology of the Body teacher at our parish that she wished that this woman was her mother, we didn't love or understand her, etc. (DD has been "mom shopping" for a better deal since before I left China with her) She's been living with this family since the end of February. Very awkward at Mass on Sundays! It will be the first Christmas since she left, so I think I understand, Rose Gardens and Jen.

I am praying for all of you and your children...that Our Lady may hold them in her heart and hands and comfort you during your trials.. I understand completely... both of my teen sons have pretty much "disowned" me... one is already gone to live with my mom and the other is leaving as soon as he can... to lose the confidence and trust and love of your children and have only hatred and suspicion left is a very hard cross for me and I feel for you.

Oh, dear. Wamegomom, I am adding you to my daily prayer list, along with robinhigh, rivendellmom and rose gardens.

I have no wisdom to offer (my oldest is 17) and nothing to give but my prayers and sacrifices for your families. You have both, in heartfelt abundance.

I will say that I have seen the Good Lord work some amazing, decade-spanning miracles. Never, never give up. Take St. Monica as your model and be like the woman who demanded a right judgment. Persistence in prayer is pleasing to God. I hope that our collective prayers for your beloved children will be answered very soon!

Praying for all you moms and your children.
Mary Alice, I have a very simular situation with my 14 yo adopted son who also has been diagonsed with RAD. It has been a very long struggle.

I am sorry. I am not meaning to hijack this thread either. I just feel that I understand how you are feeling. It is especially hard now that it is Christmas.

I have a lovely friend who is going through similar things with two of her children. My heart goes out to you all, this must be heartbreaking.
Praying for all of these Mum's.
