As I posted before, all my children are sick with the flu. I'm not sure if it's the H1N1 or not but I do know that it's nasty. They have had high fevers that have lasted for at least 5 days along with fatigue, body aches and colds.
I'm due next week and I'm currently taking Tamiflu for preventive measures per advice of my OB. I just read our hospitals policy and if a mom comes into deliver sick with the flu, she is not able to nurse (pump only so someone else can feed the baby) or hold her baby after birth until her fever subsides. The fear that I have of this happening to me is overwhelming. I'm getting myself into a depression just thinking about it. I currently have no symptoms of the flu and I'm dosing myself with lots of Vitamin C. Can you prayer warriors pray that I stay healthy through delivery and recovery and that I can let "Jesus, I trust in You", be my all day prayer?

Praying with total empathy, as my dd has the flu *and* I've BTDT with the pump in the hospital thing. (They had to look for a long time for that pump, too!)

praying for you and baby. Also I would fight that policy like crazy if push came to shove. Nursing provides antibodies and bonding your new ones best defense. FYI just because it is their new "policy" doesn't mean they'll enforce it. Also with baby # 7 I got the flu when he was a week old. We stayed in bed together nursing and he was fine. -Annie

Dear Bernadette - I am going to be praying for you round the clock over the next few days - for peace for you right now and for health and healing for you and the family. I am so praying that your new baby will arrive with everyone healthy so that you can really enjoy him/her.
Hugs and hugs

Poor girl, hang in there...I'll be praying...what an anxiety to have right now. Keep dragging the biggest container you can muster to the Fount Of Mercy....We'll help you with that!

Thank you ladies. I can feel your prayers. My stress level has gone down and suddenly I can see the "brighter" side of things.
I still have no symptoms of the flu, praise God! I just need 5 more days of no symptoms. Believe me, if God willing I do have the flu when I deliver, we will be fighting the hospital policy like crazy. Dh and I have already decided to leave the hospital right after I deliver, if need be. I think the minimum amount of time to stay is six hours. I can't imagine not having that bonding that comes right after you deliver with a newborn. Please keep praying for my health and the health of the rest of our family. So far, four of six children have recovered fine. The two year old is still fighting the fever and the three year old has yet to show signs of the flu. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers.

Oh my goodness...what a silly policy.
I suppose that they've cultured all of their staff and made certain that none of them has had any flu symptoms before coming to work, yes?
Praying for you that you stay well!
