Two weeks ago we all got the flu and all of us seem to be over it now except my 3yr old who was up all last night with fever and a cough, and my baby, who hasn't got fever but seems to be getting a nasty cough.

We went to the doctors last week and he said there's a 70-80% chance we have had the swine flu, so I'd really appreciate any prayers that they aren't developing complications.

We seem to be past the peak of the illness this morning. This has been a really long lasting flu but, thank you God, we seemed to have avoided the complications I was worried about. So many thanks to you lovely ladies for your prayers,

I wish the doctor had tested us as I asked, for the swine flu, but it wasn't our usual doctor, as he was away on holiday. Apparently they are only testing those who are really sick now.

And since my first post I'm not feeling well now too. You know when you are sick don't you, when nothing except having a rest seems important. My worry is for tonight though, dh has nightshift and so I will be by myself.

If things stay as they are now it's going to be a tough day and night but not too bad as things go, but I'm a little frightened because although most people seem to recover well from swine flu, those who do end up having complications seem to get better only to get hit by it again but worse...and that's what I'm worried about here.
So please God we will be better soon, and I really appreciate all your prayers.

Sharyn, I'm praying for you and your family that you continue to pull out of this sickness.

Our country has just come out of the whole swine flu season. I would have to say that statistically it has not been a devastating flu as first believed BUT from watching it all unfold down here and having it go through our own family, I would say that breathing difficulties are a big problem with this one - so it is important to go to hospital when those sort of symptoms arise and continue to get worse.

This has been one of my concerns, this flu has been hitting asthmatic's the worst, and I have one with asthma. Last year my dh got pneumonia and some of my children bronchitis, so I've been keen to avoid that again, especially with a 5 month old.

A few years ago in Perth we had 3 children die in their sleep from flu. I didn't realise,and many other mums and dad's too I suspect, that flu can do that. It's given me a new respect for the flu.

And this is possibly the worst bout of flu our family has had, and while coughs are lingering,like they always seem to do, we do seem to be on the mend and to have avoided the complications my family so often seems to get with the flu. We are even going to give school a try today. I'm so thankful for all your prayers.

So glad your family recovered well from this flu Annie.
