Please pray for a good friend of ours in England who is failing with cancer - his second kidney is shutting down and he is in surgery as I write. He and his wife are my very good friends who provided a second home for me when I was a foreign student abroad. They have no children of their own and are fairly isolated - and I feel so unable to help them from here - and I cannot really fly over to England with all the little ones.

Oh, I know what it's like to feel so helpless and far away, Marilyn! I think God uses those times to show me just how efficacious prayer can be! I tend to (subconsciously, but wrongly nonetheless) discount the value of supernatural help in favor of something tangible.

Please keep praying - the docs are trying to do some surgery to get one of Christopher's kidney's working - I heard from his wife Joan this morning she writes:

I don't want Christopher to suffer any more pain but it's hard to let go. Our trust is in Jesus who loves us both.

Please pray for her as she is all alone with no help. We looked into the possibility of me flying over - but with a 2 year old and newborn it is almost impossible (not just the flight but they are five hours from London and I would have a train ride too) - and also my pediatrician is very against Anna flying at such a young age - apparently England has a bad case of M1N1 virus.
