Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We were possibly exposed to the chicken pox last Wednesday. Becasue of this we had to cancel my daughters b-day party for today. Last night my 2yo came down with a fever. So, this may be the beginning. Please pray that all my children get them quick and mildly. I am 34 weeks pregnant, have had the chicken pox, but don't want a newborn in a home filled with them.

Oh prayers Jennifer! This was us 18 months ago as I was expecting baby #5. We did get it out of the house before he came, but I was 32 weeks along.

And FYI -- we took old fashioned oatmeal, ground it in my coffee grinder, put it in an old stocking (tied it up), and put the kids in the bathtub. I let them use the stocking as a sponge so to speak too. That helped soothe them a little... or distracted them. It was a lot cheaper than Aveeno... and there must have been a chicken pox outbreak, because our store was out!

Oh! That's a great tip!! I'm going to file that one away for one-day...

Prayers coming, Jenn! May this move swiftly and without complication through the little ones!

Prayers for you but also a quick little bit of hope... my MIL was expecting her youngest daughter when the other children came down with the chicken pox. They discovered years later that my SIL has a natural immunity against it even though she has never been vaccinated against it and never contracted the illness herself.

Thank you for all of your prayers. My children did not get the chicken pox, afterall. My 2yo has ended up having a digestive virus. I'm sorry I didn't get back here quickly to give the update. It seems to be going around, so we're never out of the clear, but we at least missed this one and hopefully, we'll stay clear until after the baby comes.

Charlotte....that situation does not surprise me at all. In fact, it makes sense!

well.. actually that virus you posted wasn't likely to be it anyway.. if the wednesday mentioned in your first post was 7/29.. you still have almost 2 weeks to come down with it.. if it was the wednesday before that you still have until the 12th.

From CDC.gov

Quote:
It takes from 10-21 days after exposure for someone to develop chickenpox.

The homeopathic Rhus Tox works on chicken pox. And I would probably also be giving other herbal antivirals like elderberry and ginger.

Since you seem to want them to get it.. I would start using all of the above as soon as they come down with it to hopefully shorten and lighten it. If you're wanting to avoid before the baby.. I'd be starting them asap.

I had asked my pediatrician about the 10-21 days and she said though it is possible, it is very rare to appear after 10-15 days, especially in young children. They were exposed July 22nd. Today is day 15. The virus she had my husband came down with, as well. We'll see...like I said, we're never in the clear becasue you can be exposed and not even know it!
