I am begging for prayers.

After a year and a half of waiting, we have a court date for our baby in Ethiopia. On JULY 22nd the courts in Addis Ababa will rule if he will officially become ours. If all goes well, we will be able to bring him home in August.

Please pray that the court officials are able to hear the case on the 22nd and that the rule in our favor. Please also pray for us and for our sweet boy, Joseph Benedict, as we await the ruling.

UPDATE: We were told yesterday that our court case will not be heard on the 22nd. The problem is that one of the government departments in Ethiopia that has to sign off on the adoption is closing for the next two weeks. It seems to go this way when you are dealing with 3rd world governments. there never seems to be advance warnings of these sorts of things. beacuse the office won't re-open unil the 23rd, they won't be able to sign off on our case before our scheduled court date on the 22nd. So, now we must wait for a new court date to be issued. The only potential hang-up is that the courts close for 2 months on August 7th (for the rainy season) so we must pass court before then or we will have to wait until nov. or so to pick him up. so hard. all we can do at this point is wait and trust.
we appreciate your prayers.

Update #2: We have a new court date!! AUGUST 7th!! The courts are remaining open for another 2 weeks after that too (before they close for the rainy season) so we have a little bit of a cushion too in case they ask for more documentation, etc. We are hopeful, though, that we will pass on that day!
