Please pray for my brother, he was in a head on collision with a semi early this morning. He was taken to the hospital and was awake. They did xrays and found that he has a broken femur, broken foot, 11 broken ribs, a dislocated hip, and a punctured or collapsed lung. My mom has gone to be with him. He is in surgery right now and they inserted a chest tube. His wife and children are across the country where they are living while he is working in Texas.
Please pray that he is able to get through surgery well and that he recovers well and for his wife and children who may not be able to get here right away.

Oh my, Jess! My heart stopped when I read that he was hit head on by a semi! His injuries sound quite serious, but not life threatening I hope!!! I will pray for him, and for his family that must be nearly beside themselves to get to him!!!
Asking dear St. Joseph to intercede and work out all the practicals for his family, and of course I am praying for a full recovery for your brother!

Jennifer, that is what I thought too when my mom told me about the head on. My brother is not one to wear a seatbelt very often but thankfully he was wearing it. The police came to my door at 3:45am looking for my mom (she lives with us) and told her to call the police in the city he was in. So scary. We are only about an hour away from the hospital he is in so she was able to get there pretty quickly. God has worked in wonderous ways in this because if we would have been notified too much later, my 10yr old dd and I would have been on our way to a swim meet almost 2 hrs away (we were going to leave at 5am) and my mom would have been home with the rest of my children. So we would have had to turn around and get home so she could go and that would have delayed her getting there. I am so very thankful that his injuries are not worse than they are, because it could have been so much worse.

Ok I have an update
My mom just called and said my brother tolerated the surgery well and is in recovery. After that he will go to intermediate care. His hip was very badly dislocated and they repaired it as best as they could but it will probably require further surgery later on. His femur break is an open break and was practically blown up so they repaired it as best as they could. His ribs are a concern because they need to keep him very still and calm since so many are broken. One of his ribs punctured the lining of his lung so they had inserted the chest tube to reinflate his lung. They were able to repair his fractured ankle. He will probably be in the hospital for 1-2 weeks and will have to stay off his right leg for 3 months.
My mom was trying to find out what happened to the driver of the semi, but all she was able to find out was that he was taken to the same hospital, not sure of his condition. So please pray for him too.

Oh, Jess...just seeing this and praying! This is so scary and the injuries are so many... Praying for his recovery and for his family!
