thrown into our plans for next week's travels!
We are supposed to go spend a lovely (it is ALWAYS lovely  ) week with Willa and her clan.
Yesterday in the mail.......my oldest was called to jury duty on a date before we were to return home. 
While civic duty is a good thing............why then??? 
A bummer she got it on a Friday afternoon when we cannot even call the courts.....and we were to leave Monday AM.....so, now we feel UP IN THE AIR till Monday AM.........IF they even answer the phones when we call!
So, please pray she can get out of it....so we can have our full time with Willa........who is just finding this out now. Sorry, friend! Have your kids pray hard!!

It isn't usually that difficult to get a postponement. Just have here say she will be out of town. It is often hard to get them to release you conpletely - but a postponement usually isn't a problem, especially if it's a first summons and hasn't already been postponed. But then again I don't know California and it may be different.

I believe in fulfilling our civic duty, but I think I would be tempted to just go and call them from Willa's and say not in town. I'm sure that is not very virtuous of me.  (Think about it this way: If you had plane tickets already she wouldn't be able to come back early. Just because you are driving, it doesn't mean the plans aren't important!)
I'm praying that it all works out.

Oh prayers ... does California have an online site to check or ask for postponement? Colorado does and we used that for dh so he could get scheduled over Spring Break.
Also, sometimes you can check if "her number" is on the yep list ....
Prayer and hopes that all works out ...

well, Anne had to be "postponed" twice already.....once each semester because she was a full-time student I am hoping they will not hold it against her
PLUS: she DOES have plane tickets to go to VA, leaving on 7/6......so, anything going beyond would make it impossible to be present
and, IF a trial were actually going to happen........that went beyond into August........she would have to be at school out of state on 8/20
What do you all think about ME calling and pretending I am her???
she is such a timid mouse about these things........I am afraid she may not let them know she MEANS it when she says she cannot be available 
I just might write a script and out her on speaker phone so I can coach her
Angie, I would be jealous, too.....if it weren't ME getting to go! 
I wonder, Mary, if there is such a thing for our county.....it IS at the county level
I have a feeling the state really wouldn't accept ANY excuse.........as my dear friend had to keep driving to Sacramento......4 hours.........and she runs a school!!!.........AND it was right in the middle of their accredidation hearing......the state said: so what!
so, thanks for the prayers.....please don't stop!

Oh, Chari....this sounds just awful...preventing your delightful week of visiting with dear Willa and family!!!! I'd be in tears....and ON THE PHONE !!!!!
Praying very hard that all of this is untwisted in a way to make your week visiting possible!!!!
