Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As many of you know, Wendi and her family have been eagerly waiting the homecoming of siblings from Haiti. Here's her update:

Wendi wrote:
No Katiana and Raef are not home yet. They were suposed to be home December 23rd but we ran into passport issues for Katiana and as of today we don't know when they will be coming. Raef will definately be here soon but we are doing everything we can (which is just about nothing) to keep them together. It has been exhausting as we raced to finish our house renovations and while we had a wonderful Christmas, we were not complete this year at all.
We are asking for intercession from Bl. Pierre Toussaint and Bl. Mother Teresa.

Please, please add your prayers to theirs. I'll keep bumping this thread up to remind you until these little ones are safe at home.

That is disappointing that Katiana and Raef did not make it home for Christmas. That happened to us one year, and we had her stocking all ready for her when she got home in January. She is now 16 and loves to hear that story! I am praying for the childrens' swift homecoming.

Thank you all!
Jane - we have our tree up and it was cut fresh on the 23rd so we should be able to keep it up for a bit. Their stockings and presents are waiting for them so we will have a wonderful celebration when they arrive.

Exciting news at Wendi's house!!
Wendi and John welcomed their son Raef home last Sunday PM...
There is much rejoicing. We saw them all on Tuesday and the happiness on all their faces would brighten up the darkest dark!
Raef is a cheerful, delightful little boy. His "Mama and Papa" are loving him up, as are his big sisters.
There is much hope that Katiana's passport is ready to go... just waiting for the word... so keep the prayers coming.
Wendi will post an update as soon as she is able!!

Proud to be Raef's godparents,
Sue(&dh Glenn)

Well, the house is quiet, Raef is sleeping and therefore I have a minute to be here. He is such a joy and a blessing beyond words. He is settling into a little bit of a routine - that means I now know what his happy active, hungry and tired times are. He is a very happy little guy. He loves to cuddle and play and he is a very good eater. He loves books (I guess God sent him to the right family) and when he sees familiar pictures (a fish, a snake or something) he has been sharing songs with us. Of course we understand little of them, but the joy on his face and in his voice is unmistakable.
He talks about Katiana a lot. We have many pictures of them around the house. He is very happy when he talks about her and seems to understand "Katiana will come soon". He is doing well with visitors now that I know that after lunch is a rest time and the morning is a play time. Yesterday we enjoyed a stroller walk after lunch (my exercise, his nap) and today he was very sad that I could not take him again as it is raining.
My creole translation book is never far from reach so we can try to figure out his conversation. He is very patient in repeating things, and correcting me when I pronounce them wrong. It really is a crack up.
We still have no word on Katiana but we are expecting her passport done any time and therefore she should be home w/in the next couple of weeks.
I am sure I could go on and on for a very long time. It seems like so long since we have had a little one in the house. What a blessing for dh and I and very much so for the girls.
I am learning quickly the value of these few quiet moments, and I am quickly learning to "let go" of my housework. He just loves to be with mama and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I don't think I spent enough time enjoying my girls when they were this age and just wanted to hang all over me. I was too busy with my "career" or cleaning (in case someone important stopped by ... like they weren't important enough to NOT clean ... of course I am not talking about the basics here...) Well, now I am rambling on. Just know that I am thanking God for this opportunity. Hind sight is 20/20 and the ability in this case to "go back" is such a gift.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
