Please pray for him. At almost 24 he has never been able to stick to anything for very long, and now that he has child support  to pay as well, he really needs to make this work. After boot camp he heads to training at the base nearest my home, which we're very happy about, but he'll have a tough few weeks before he gets here.

So far he is holding his own; his drill sergeants are not the "Drop and give me 50!" type, which is good. He's working hard to keep in touch with all of us, and he's survived what I think is the worst part, the gas chamber, sense of humor intact. (Sinuses, not so much.  )
As far as I know right now, we will be hosting him for a couple of weeks this summer in between schools. Please pray that this will be allowed by the Army. (He may not understand our quasi-chaotic lifestyle, but he'll be exposed to life in a Catholic home for the first time if he can stay with us. Besides, I'm sure I make better food than Army chow hall cooks do!)
I so appreciate your prayers. He's a bright and likeable young man - he could have a good career as an Army journalist if he can stick with it. He has so much going for him...and we all so want this to succeed.
