Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

PLEASE BEG GOD NOT TO LET OUR LIBRARIES CLOSE!!!

I am sure some of you have heard what a horrific mess the state of CA is in....budget-wise (we can deall with moral later )

Well.......our governor took monies away from the public libraries....and we lost our music and DVD programs (since adopted by grass roots.....phew!!!)........and then again from our county

and noe......our county supervisors want to close our libraries.....or just have one open sometimes.

We live in a county in CA that has the largest amount of land per capita in the state.......meaning there are 11 libraries........all very far from each other.........and hardly open at all in some of the communities because they are so small

Please pray they will not close........they are making a decision this week.

I am kind of mad that one of the ones wanting to close is a conservative that I voted for....grrrrr.

Wouldn't this just be horrible????

and those of you who know me well.......know this would severely affect how I homeschool

okay, enough vent!

Oh, my, you are right, Chari - library closure would be just devastating to me. (I'm having a rough with the one in our neighborhood being closed for just 4 months for renovation ). My homeschooling would be severely affected without the library. I will pray for this intention especially this week.

Praying. In difficult economic times, libraries are more needed than ever - not just for the books and DVDs but also for computers so people can look for work, and for the free activities and programs they provide. This move to close libraries is wrong-headed on many, many levels.

Praying now...
Libraries are one public service that I feel good paying taxes for. They are a blessing!

God bless,
Christine

Chari, my Mom is livid too! And so glad my sister graduates this year, homeschooling without a library is an insane idea.

I wonder how much that new Redding library cost to build? Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great building but if using an old building that doesn't have automatic book sorters with TVs so you can watch your books go down the ramp thing would have allowed the libraries to stay open...

On the other hand, I love the xeriscaped roof overlooking Mt Shasta but I think Mom said the Garden Club takes care of that.

Praying, Chari.

oh I am praying for this, and all libraries suffering! I voted for a new library to be built in our area, and we cannot put a pricetag on the bookmobile which comes to my neighborhood once a week, and brings me anything i've reserved online!!
aren't libraries wonderful memories for our kids as well??
