My dear sister has asked for your prayers. She has a very regular cycle. When she was one day past her start date, she took a pregnancy test which showed positive. Today (two days later) she took another test and it showed negative. She read that if you receive conflicting results and your cycle does not begin, to consult a physician in case of an ectopic pregnancy. She will call her provider tomorrow.
She also asked for any words of wisdom from this experienced gathering of moms. Thanks so much.
I'm feeling sad myself and would appreciate a prayer as well. I'm the only one in the extended family who is involved right now.
Love,

Angie,
I did experience this. It wasn't an ectopic pregnancy but it did turn out to be a miscarriage. She will be in my prayers. The waiting and wondering make for a very difficult time...

I had an ectopic pregnancy oh, almost 20 years ago now. My first warning was light spotting and pain, like menstrual cramping that wouldn't go away, on one side (which was where the pregnancy was located, in my fallopian tube). If she hasn't had any pain perhaps there is still a bit of hope, that the second one was a false negative? I will pray so, but anyway, I'm glad she is seeking medical advice.
If it does prove to be an ectopic pregnancy there is an article here
about tubal pregnancies from a Catholic perspective. Your sister will be in my prayers, Angie, and please keep us updated. Let me know if I can help.

No real advice (other than a situation like Elizabeth's) but I will be praying for her and you.

Prayers from here, too, Angie. Like Elizabeth, I had a miscarriage that at first appeared to be an ectopic pregnancy, but it was not. I don't have advice, but can offer prayers ....

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for your prayers and information. I have forwarded it all to my sister. Today she asked that I update you and ask you to continue to pray.
She has been patiently waiting and seeing. She took an additional home test which was positive. Yesterday, she began to bleed. Today she bleeds more heavily. She is in no pain. Monday, she has an appointment for a blood test, followed by another on Wednesday if necessary.
To add to her burden, she is carrying in her heart that she had dental work done during the time that she would have been very early pregnant. She had a bad reaction to some anesthesia (sp?), went home and googled info.to see why, and only then saw that she shouldn't have received this if she was pregnant. The dental office didn't ask if she was pregnant and she wouldn't have thought she was anyway because she and her husband weren't "planning" all of this.
Personally, I'm praying mightily that I hold my niece or nephew some day. I also completely trust God's plan and am grateful for each moment that I am loving this precious one.
Love,

Oh, Angie,
I'm so sorry for your sister's loss of this precious baby. I know how terribly hard it is. She's in my prayers, and so is the baby's aunt. A hug to you ....

Angie,
I'm so sorry. The loss of a baby is always so heartbreaking, even if the promise of a future was only fleeting. Mothers have the way of doing a lifetime of dreaming in only a day or two when they are anticipating a new baby. Hugs to both of you!

Angie, if your sister has children, or even if it consoles her, ask her to think of this as God's way of forming angels for heaven. It helps me to this day to think of my miscarriage in that way. Our whole family has an angel going to bat for us in heaven. And I was blessed by God choosing me to carry that angel in my womb.

Angie, I am so sad to read about your sister. You and your sister are in my prayers.
Tina, your advice is so beautiful and would be a comfort to any mother (and really the only possible comfort in a situation like this). I will pass along something that a friend of mine said recently. She had had a heartbreaking miscarriage, and I told her I was praying for her and "her little angel in heaven." She surprised me by pointing out that her baby was now a saint and not, strictly speaking, an angel. Of course, she was right, but this never would have occurred to me. Still, it is incredible to think about a family having a saint interceding for them in heaven.
Your words also reminded me of something very deep that my husband's cousin said years ago. She and her husband lost a three month old infant girl to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Needless to say, they were beyond devastated, but his cousin still had the strength and wisdom to point out that the goal of all mothers is to get our children to heaven and say what a blessing it is to know that she succeeded in this goal with this child. I still cry when I think about this.

Angie, praying for your sister. May her consolation be welcoming baby Jesus this Christmas season...
